This is an audiovisual project on the Black Atlantic. The project investigates expressive force and recuperates individual determinations amid diasporic resonance through select historical and contemporary figures of African descent. It is composed primarily with analog video and spare archival sources, alongside modular instrumentation, with some fragments of piano and/or guitar. Ultimately, these are things I connect with intrinsically through the gift of my parents and their distinct Ghanaian (Ewe) and Caribbean histories in me. And that's how I prefer it. I'm a parallelogram with blood and spirit ties.

What is analog àṣẹ / analog se ??

Ewe metaphysics produces a spiritual energy (se) that represents the inherited expression of cultural knowledge that is regenerated through kinship and spiritual practices in Ghana, Togo, and across the Black Atlantic diaspora. Ewe conceptions of "se" may conform to an entelechial force that pre-determines the individual and directs the productive expression of a resonant life force. Yoruba metaphysics likewise produces a spiritual energy (àṣẹ) that has travelled and been invoked in snycretic spiritual practices that are prevalent throughout the Caribbean. Consequently, "àṣẹ" may conform to West African philo-spiritual systems of invocation, manifestation, or vital enunciation that produces ontological expressivity, change, or happening in the spiritual and physical world. I privately commune with these twin metaphysics which are resonant in my West African and Jamaican heritage. That is, se and àṣẹ inform my own aesthetic intent. They express their metaphysical and material signature through me in the intrepid interpretation or transcription of analog noise, detrition, and life. In other words, you can find me at the transport mechanism.
